ARC Paint Colors
Any changes in color to the base, trim, or outside doors to a Homeowner’s residence must be submitted via a Property Improvement Request to the Architectural Review Committee (ARC) for approval before painting with the changed color. Per Article III, Section 3(c) of the Covenants, only “earth tone” colors shall be used on the exterior of all buildings in Discovery HOA. Article I, Section 1.h, defines "earth tone" as used in Discovery HOA as, "the definition of colors in an earth tone scheme which are dark, muted and flat in an emulation of the natural colors found in soil, moss, trees and rocks as defined by the ARC or the Associations's Board of Directors." Bright accent colors can be used in small areas to add interest and variety such as on door panels. As these are by definition not earth tone colors, a Property Improvement Request (PIR) must be submitted for their consideration.
Plain white is NOT an approved color for the exterior finish of a building, but may be used as trim for windows, doors, fascias and soffits. Neither are black or extreme dark grays considered earth tone colors; these will also NOT be approved for use anywhere.
The Sherman Williams colors posted on this web page are pre-approved by the Discovery HOA Board. The Board does not endorse the use of Sherman Williams paint; it is simply displaying the paint chips for our Homeowners’ convenience to facilitate prompt Board approval of a paint change PIR.
An PIR is not required when repainting a building using the same colors.
Online PIR submissions for colors not found on this page will not be considered absent a physical sample. If a Homeowner chooses a color not on this page - or a "similar" color from a different vendor - a paint color chip or stir stick with the paint on it must be physically submitted to the ARC along with their PIR for consideration. Digital pictures of colors are no longer accepted as color and brightness settings on computers can distort colors.
Note: The ARC Chairman also maintains and lends out a color wheel of the pre-approved house and trim colors should a Homeowner desire to review/compare colors in daylight. Actual paint chips of the colors on this approved web page can be also acquired for free at any Sherwin Williams store.
Although automatic approval is granted when a homeowner selects a product from this approved web page, a PIR MUST still be submitted identifying which product is being used.
If the product you wish to use is not currently on the approved list, you may still submit it for consideration by the ARC.
