February, 2010 President’s Corner-New Initiatives Dear Discovery Homeowners, We had our first meeting of 2010 on January 19 with two new Board members, Jack Lundberg and Carole Thurston. I am delighted to report that your new Board of Directors has approached this coming year with a number of new and exciting initiatives. The Board has voted on the various Officer positions as noted below for a one year term: President Randy Cubero Vice President Jerry Farney Treasurer Jerry Farney Secretary Carole Thurston Architectural Control Chair Roger Boehnke Covenants Compliance Chair John Dwors Nominating Chair Jack Lundberg Moreover, we are very fortunate to continue the services of our Administrator, Jan Doran, for the next twelve months. As a point of clarification, generally the membership will vote in Directors for a three year term at our annual meeting, as you did for Jack and Carole, but the Board, once it is constituted, will vote for Officer positions on an annual basis at the first monthly meeting after our annual membership meeting. In reading further in this newsletter you will learn more about new initiatives: 1) Rewrite our covenants to update them and make them more relevant, 2) Amend our Bylaws in accordance with your annual meeting votes to include wording on an Alternative Dispute Resolution Procedure and Term Limits for our Directors, 3) Provide a welcoming committee for our new residents in our Discovery Subdivision, and, 4) help deserving members of our Association with volunteer community service projects. As always we will ask for your participation and support for these worthwhile Association endeavors.
